Just want to let you know that we have recently made some updates to The Trackster. We have added an invoice module and an email marketing module to our other features.

Invoice – When you log into your account you will notice that there is a new navigation item called Invoice. You can now send out invoices from The Trackster to all of your clients and also send a copy to your bookkeeper to save time later. All your invoices will be in one spot and guaranteed to be delivered to your clients.

Email Marketing – Another new navigation item is Newsletters. From here you will be able to send out Email Newsletters to all of your current, past and even prospective clients. You can even target specific groups, for instance you might want to let all your current clients know about a special you are running, or just let your prospective clients know about an exlusive offer. After the email campaign is sent you can then get access to reports about who opened your emails and where they clicked – invaluable information for future newsletters.

We hope that by introducing these two new features that The Trackster will become an integral part of your Personal Training business.

If you already have an account, there is nothing to do but simply log in and these new features will be available. If you don’t have an account, we offer a 30 Day Free Trial with full access to all the features to see if it suits your business.

If you have any feedback or suggestions for new features please feel free to get in contact.

In any business communication with your clients is crucial. For Personal Trainers who’s business is improving the lives of their clients, communication is critical. Personal Trainers are motivators, they are helping people to get into the best physical (and mental) shape they can be.

In an article on stevehochman.com, Craig Ballantyne has written a guest post about 5 Marketing activities a trainer should do each month. It’s a great article with some great tips for Personal Trainers (or anyone in business really) that’s well worth your time.

I want to concentrate on tip 2 – Increase and improve consistency of client contact. This one is close to my heart, because it’s the very reason why we built The Trackster – to help Personal Trainers communicate with their clients.

Excuse me for 10 seconds while I give you the sales spiel – By using The Trackster in your Personal Training business, you can send email messages to one or all your clients, send sms text messages to one or all your clients, send email marketing newsletters to all your clients plus prospective and past clients, along with tracking your clients training programs and goals, plus much more. End of sales spiel

Another great tip is using Facebook and setting up fan pages. There is plenty of great information out there about using Facebook for your business. Mashable.com has one of the most comprehensive guides to using Facebook for your business, from the basics right through to using Facebook apps to promote your business.

With all the free information available to anyone on the internet, and through local libraries and through tv shows etc, anyone can find information about getting fit, keeping fit, eating properly and being healthy. Personal Trainers are a great source of this information, but let’s face it, you can get it anywhere. What a person can’t get anywhere is motivation and support. That’s where the Personal Trainer comes into their own. Motivation and support. And communication is a crucial part of that.

Communication is where Personal Trainers can differentiate themselves in this business.

Do you know of any other ways trainers can communicate better with their clients?

Ever since we had our launch of The Trackster a few weeks ago, I’ve had a number of people ask me why we built it? It’s a good question considering I’m not a Personal Trainer myself.

One piece of advice that is constantly thrown around when people advise others on what business to start or what web site to build, is to “eat your own dog food”. This essentially means to work on something that you want to use. Solve a problem that you have. If you have a certain problem that you need solving then it’s reasonable to believe that others will have the same problem – solve that problem and there you have the start of a business.

Like I said, I’m not a Personal Trainer. However, I have been to many PT’s in my life time. Most of them were good trainers, and I have enjoyed doing it. Although I have enjoyed working with PT’s, I always felt that there was something missing. You do your session and then that’s it, off you go until next week. I was looking for that extra motivation to help me continue the program or keep going along to the trainer.

If you do a quick 5 minute search on google about motivation, you’ll quickly discover that some of the keys are to set S.M.A.R.T. goals and to keep track of your progress. Also having someone help you (the PT) and giving you a kick in the pants when required is extremely helpful. This is where I thought The Trackster could help.

Obviously the seed was started there and after a lot of research and talking to PT’s, The Trackster developed and was built with the intention of helping Personal Trainers run their business and also help their clients become more successful in achieving their goals.

The Trackster is a communication tool at heart. Helps keep the communication between the trainer and client ongoing and consistent, without being overbearing and time consuming. We have many more ideas to keep adding to The Trackster, and if you have any suggestions or comments please get in touch or comment below.

Just a quick post to let you know about a very cool tool that I found called wordle. It basically takes a bunch of text and turns it into a “word cloud”. There are plenty of examples on their site and you can make a lot of changes to your own word cloud.

I did one with The Trackster’s concept plan.

I thought this was pretty cool, so I’m actually using it on my business cards. Something a bit different anyway.

Check it out and have fun with some of your own text.
