What Motivates us at Work

I’ve already mentioned on this blog that I’m a big fan of inspirational quotes, and I’m also really interested in learning how to motivate myself.

When researching and doing some reading a name that popped up a bit was Dan Pink.  He has written a book called Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us.  I have ordered the book online and can’t wait to read it, but I’ve listened to a few interviews he has done and also a few videos of him online which are fantastic.

This first video is called “The two questions that can change your life”.  It’s only 2 minutes long and worth watching.

The second video is a little longer at 19 minutes of a presentation Dan did at a TED conference.

Just as a sidenote the TED website is a fantastic resource of high quality motivating presentations.

I’m fascinated that a 2 minute video like the one above can be so motivating and inspiring to people.  I know it has got me thinking about what my sentence would be, and already today I know that I can answer yes to the second question, because I’ve been thinking about it all day.
